Sachets and the zodiac September 28, 1999

Merry Meet one and all, Welcome to this edition of The Apothecary. Today I'm going to get a little "hands on" with all of you. I'm going to talk about sachets. Sachets are sometimes called amulets, charms, & talismans. Herbs have been carried in everything from horns and seashells to leather and lockets. Rings were even made with compartments to put herbs into. This way the herb and stone about would work together.Sometimes herbs were sewn into clothing for protective purposes. Now the most common method of making a sachet is by tying or sewing the herbs and other materials in small pieces of cloth. Materials needed: herbs colored material yarn or twine Sachets are made for a variety of reasons including protection, luck, and healing. So the first thing you have to do is determine the purpose of the sachet and collect the appropriate herbs. The next step is to pick the proper color cloth. Synthetic materials seem to mess with the herbs vibrations so you should only use natural material such as felt, wool, or cotton. Cut the cloth into a square from 4-9 inches depending on if it's a smaller personal sachet or a larger house sachet you're making. Set aside. Now you're ready to mix the herbs. Do this with your hands. Empower the herbs with what you want them to do. The more of yourself you put into this the stronger it'll be. When you feel the herbs are "ready" go on to the next step. Take your pre cut square of cloth and place the empowered herbs in the center of the square. Gather up the ends and tie them together tightly. Using the yarn or twine, tie the sachet shut, using 3 knots. If this is a personal charm, carry it with you at all time, squeezing gently to release it's scent when you need it. If this is a house or car sachet, squeeze it to "activate" it and then place in the proper spot. (Under driver seat in a car and high spot in house). Replace with freshly made sachet every three months or so. Take the old one apart and bury it. I'm giving recipes for the zodiac here. Wear or carry to strengthen the positive aspects of your sign. Notice the recipes are all done by "parts". 1 part this and 3 parts that type of thing. It's up to you what a "part" is. 1/2 teaspoon, 1 tablespoon, 1/2 cup....whatever. But you must use the same measure through out the recipe. You can go as far as making it on the right day, time, planetary influence, etc. Then you can go on to cleanse and consecrate it. And then do a ritual to make it yours. So you see.......they can be simple sachets or very complex. Like I said earlier.......it's up to you and what you put into them. Well......that's it for this edition. Hope you all enjoyed it.
